Obituary

Brenda Kay Volling

September 12, 1952  -  September 28, 2020  (Age 68)

Brenda was born to William Bryan Kelsey and Bernita B. Chestnut Kelsey. Her hometown was Westphalia where she grew up and knew her neighbors. She often spoke of her adventures when she was a child growing up there and the things she did. When she was 18 years old her mother died so she lived with her oldest sister Wanda Burress and her husband Bill.

 

Brenda met and married Mack Sammons and the two of them had a daughter Shauna Renee.

They divorced and she met and married Steve R. York, he until he died of cancer.

 

Brenda then met and married Steve Volling. They were married in 1999 during the Y2K crisis. But they survived that and 20 more years together.

 

Brenda worked since she was a teenager doing various jobs. She then got hired on at Good Samaritan Hospital and worked there for the next 27 years. She was a CNA for Hospice. She enjoyed her job there and took very good care of the patients and their families. She made many friends doing this. She retired from there in July of this year.

 

Brenda’s loves in life were her Lord, Jesus Christ, her family, gardening, going on vacation (especially on the beach).She also enjoyed helping her husband as his role as deacon at their church.

 

Brenda is survived by; her husband Steve Volling; daughter, Shauna Sammons (Norman) Knepp of Montgomery; grandsons, Ashton and Aidan Knepp; sisters, Wilma Able (Bicknell) and Nancy Padgett (Westphalia); brother, Jack Bare (Bicknell).

She is proceeded in death by; her parents, husbands; Mack Sammons and Steve R. York; sister, Wanda Burress; brother, Ronnie Joe Bare.

 

The family would like to thank all the ICU nurses who cared for her during her stay in the hospital. They went above and beyond with their care, and also for the care from Dr Watson and Dr. Graves for their help during this trying time. Also thank you all for the prayers from the family and friends. We appreciate all their help during this time.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday Oct. 2, 2020 4-7 P.M. with a Funeral service  to be held at 7 P.M. at the Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Bicknell Chapel.  Per Brenda’s request following the service she will be cremated and a burial will take place in the bicknell memorial cemetery at a later date.

RIP Brenda,  I remember you unfortunately hit my parent's German Shepard on the busy Hyw 58 west of Freelandville several years ago.  The accident could not be helped.  Their dog survived but had a broken leg. I remember my parents saying how concerned and caring she was for their dog who had been injured.
